The younger brother of Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim has confessed to threatening to kill his sister over the phone from prison.

Michael Ibrahim, appeared at Sydney’s Downing Centre District Court via audiovisual link where he was due to get a date for trial.

However, the 43-year-old pleaded guilty at the last minute to one charge of attempting to intimidate with the intent of causing fear or physical harm.

A charge of using a carriage service to menace was withdrawn by the crown prosecutor.

According to court documents, Ibrahim threatened to kill his sister Armani Haddad, also known as Armani Stelio, during a phone call at Goulburn Jail on the morning of October 25, 2020.

Ibrahim was apprehended at the prison on the afternoon of October 29 by Strike Force Raptor, a police operation targeting serious criminal activity such as bikie gangs.

On Friday, Ibrahim appeared in the NSW District Court wearing his prison greens with a thick grey beard and thinning hair.

He was due to confirm his plea of not guilty, but defence lawyer Abbas Soukie told the court he would be changing the plea.

“Guilty, your honour,” Ibrahim told Judge Tim Gartelmann.

The sentence hearing is expected to take about an hour.

Mr Soukie told the court the “central issue is totality”, as his client is already serving a sentence until 2032.
