The Lutenants are and exciting duo from the UK, who ten years ago decided to set the world alight with their unique sound that represented their heritage. They want their music to break boundaries for the UK, Caribbean and beyond.

Their new single ‘Paradise’ will be released on May 4th, and is an accumulation of all their hard work over the past decade. Here we speak exclusively to the Lutenants about their musical journey, new release, future plans and much, much more;

Growing up who inspired your love of music?

Michael Jackson, Dru Hill, Krosfyan, Eminem, Luther Vandross, WCK.

Who are your all time musical icons?

Musiq Soulchild, Machel Montano, Mr Killa, Kassav, Damien Marley, G-Unit

What would be your dream collaboration?

UK – Cold Play, Gorillas, Wiley, Chip, Shakka, Angel, and Caribbean – Mr Killa, Voice, Wyclef, Machel, Bounty Killer

So, how did the band come about?

After Collaborating On A Single With A Mutual Friend We Decided To Join Forces And Create Music Together.

You started your careers performing a fusion of Caribbean Music, predominately Soca for the past 10 years what made you want to release more UK directed music this year?

We are as much connected to the UK as we are the Caribbean and now feels like the time to embrace and merge both styles creatively by bringing out fresh new UK music with a fusion of the Caribbean. 

What can fans expect from your new musical direction?

Same great concepts and slick harmonies but will be more chart friendly. We want to be able to add a new sound to the current UK market. 

Your new single ‘Paradise’ will be released this May, what’s the inspiration behind the track?

The concept entails us attaining our musical goals. It acknowledges that we understand its time for a new direction. We accept it’s a work in progress but can see the fruits will soon bear. The work will pay off. We are not there yet, but we feel it could be close. Paradise, is not far. To, put it simply, our personal journey is the inspiration. 

#What do you hope fans take from your new music?

We want our love for writing to shine through. We want it to be relatable enjoyable, and motivational – and to connect with anyone on a journey of personal growth.

Can UK fans expect to see you on tour soon?

We will be travelling around the UK for our new single. Fans can keep up with where we are going to be by following us on Facebook or Instagram.

What are your 2018 career goals?

To promote a new fresh sound, while creating, and providing consistent musical content.
