During a conversation with reporters from Us Magazine earlier in the week, 50 Cent revealed his candid thoughts about hip-hop culture, and whether or not he feels he belongs there anymore. Fans of the rapper know he hasn’t dropped a new record in six years.
The 44-year-old rapper said to the outlet that there will be new material in his show, For Life, airing on ABC. Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent, said to reporters at the Television Critics’ Association’s winter press tour that he planned on dropping new music eventually but was waiting for the right time.
The Grammy award winner stated succinctly, “I just think hip-hop culture is a youth sport.” Jackson said to the publication that there were guys out there who want to have the best rap verse when they’re in their fifties, but according to the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ artist, they’re not supposed to be on top anymore.

50 Cent may be right on the money, considering some of the biggest artists out there right now are still in their 20s and early 30s. The same thing cannot be said for rock music, on the other hand. It wouldn’t be the first time 50 Cent made similar comments either.

Addressing his new series, the Power alum dished on the plot, which involves a man who becomes a lawyer after he’s incarcerated for something he didn’t do.
According to the rapper-turned-actor, the story was very important for him to tell, because it was based on a true story, moreover, it’s just too interesting to say “no” to. Jackson, in reference to his character in For Life, stated that the kid was put in jail when he was 16 over a violent assault, where he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
